MORE CARNAGE FEATURED: OLGA ZHDANOVA - “DIRT”
Olga Zhdanova’s DIRT is a confrontation with what we spend our lives trying to wash away.
It begins with noise—advertising, expectation, gender, self-image—and ends with a whisper so human it hurts. This is not a work that seeks clarity; it seeks truth, which is something far rougher, more animal, more alive.
Zhdanova doesn’t photograph bodies—she excavates them. Her images feel ritualistic, like a confession in motion, where the body becomes both priest and penitent. The camera here is not an instrument of observation but of transformation: a tool for unlearning everything the world has said we should be.
DIRT belongs to the world of MORE CARNAGE because it refuses polish. It is grief rendered tactile. It is chaos given flesh. There is no safe distance between the viewer and the work; the mud sticks to your gaze, forcing you to recognize the sediment of your own false identities. Every frame feels like a breath clawing its way through suffocation.
What remains after Zhdanova’s ritual is not beauty, but a strange, new kind of nakedness—one that feels less like exposure and more like arrival.
In DIRT, purification is not clean. It’s earned.
ABOUT OLGA ZHDANOVA
My art is an act of transformation, where the body becomes not a subject but a living language of experience. The body is like a laboratory of internal alchemy: here feelings are broken down into their components and distilled into pure form. Everything once lived becomes the source material for new meaning. Each work is a ritual of undressing, a sign of power.
I do not strive for beauty for the sake of aesthetics. Beauty is a byproduct of deep honesty. My images do not pose; they confess. I work with flesh like a sculptor with clay, allowing emotions to color every gesture.
A path through vulnerability, in which armor is born, not for protection, but for truth. It is a mirror. The language of those who know how to listen to the silence within themselves.
An invitation not to watch, but to feel.
Not to observe, but to participate.
