MORE CARNAGE FEATURED: CLAUDIA TONG - “THE END OF WORK”

There’s a strange tenderness in watching a system think. In The End of Work, Claudia Tong orchestrates an algorithmic ballet—pixels pulse, colours fracture, and sound trembles against the edge of comprehension. It’s the hum of digital breath, the song of code learning to feel.

This work doesn’t moralise about the machine; it collaborates with it. Tong treats artificial intelligence not as a threat, but as a mirror—an unpredictable partner in creation. Every flicker, every abstracted form is a negotiation between chaos and structure, accident and control. Somewhere between randomness and rhythm, the human pulse still beats—fragile, stubborn, alive.

The End of Work was born from a theatre of labour and automation, but it has outgrown its context. The death of the hand-made becomes the birth of hybrid intuition. The artist becomes an architect of uncertainty, surrendering precision for connection.

This piece sits inside MORE CARNAGE like a quiet rupture—a rebellion made of stillness, where emotion emerges not through flesh but through code. In a world obsessed with mastery, Tong invites us to unlearn control, to find poetry in the glitch.

ABOUT CLAUDIA TONG

Claudia Tong creates at the intersection of traditional and new media art. Her practice spans painting, illustration, mixed media, visual computing, photography, and music. A graduate of Brown University in Computer Science, she bridges algorithmic precision with artistic intuition. Working between art, quantitative finance, and football coaching, her work reflects an ethos of multiplicity—discipline colliding with chaos. Across mediums, Tong searches for balance in paradox: human and machine, order and entropy, the beautiful and the broken.

The code hums. The screen breathes. Somewhere in the circuitry, something like a soul stirs.
